size matters

Shoe sizes matter

One of the reason i chose childrenss shoes as a product to sell,  is due to the fact that the big brand shoe companies regularly lie about the size your little ones feet should be for each size. Some brands dont display accure or true recommended foot lengths on their size charts posted on their websites and some brands that do display charts and have foot gauges dont tell you that the measurements on the gauges arent the same as mm & cm. For example a 157 reading on a gauge isnt 157mm so parents that dont know this would go to another brand and think that their childs foot is 157mm and use that to figure out what size they need. Visa versa a parent that doesn't own a brand gauge will enter a (example) 164mm length into that brands calculator not knowing that they are entering a mm length into a gauge measurement calculator.

Naughty Common foot  length - size measurement practices by brands.

- a brand will display a length underneath the shoe size on their boxes, parents think this is the recommended foot length when its really the whole shoe length on the outside of the shoe meaning a child is bought shoes that are as long as their foot.

- the size charts say the recommended foot length is the length of the insole, this means a child is bought a pair of shoes that have no growing room at all.
Common mistakes made when measuring a childs foot to get a foot length.
Dont do these, listed below.

- measurement the length of the sole of the foot with a ruler by picking up the childs foot and measuring the length from heel to toe.

- measuring the length of the outside sole of the shoe they are currently wearing.

- measuring the foot length by placing a ruler next to a foot thats standing on the floor.

All brands are different, for example during the summer my son was wearing a Geox UK10 EU28, but only a Clarks UK9.5 and only a Start Rite UK9.
